Jennifer Aniston Appreciation

This is a just a bit of fun post that i thought of doing after seeing so many pictures of Jennifer Aniston in magazines. I think she always looks cool because the things she wears are quite simple but always in a nice colour palette and subtley expensive. I have put a few of my favourites in and tried to recreate them myself. I know I look nothing like her and my style is a bit more girly but i thought it would be something different to do and i like dressing up.

The photo above is my favourite pic of Jen, I love the colour of the dress and the way she has kept it simple and added interest with layered jewellery.

This is my version, no point me trying to recreate her hair but this is a grey structured bustier from Topshop which is pretty similar to her dress. Necklaces, cocktail ring and clutch are from Accessorize.
This is a close-up of the cameo necklace, I love it and it goes really well with grey. They also had a blush coloured cameo with a woman's silhouette on it which I might buy as well.

Another pic of Jen in a pretty scarf and quilted bag combo. Trying to ignore John Mayer (*disapproves*)

Topshop pale pink vest and scarf, Marc B bag which I have had ages and love.

Close-up of the very pretty paisley Topshop scarf...

...and the quilted bag, which I also have in grey.

This is totally chic and classic...

My version has a bit more bling, black Topshop vest, Accessorize pearl bracelet, ebay pearl necklace and River Island sunglasses.
Lots of posts coming soon as i have ordered a few things online- Eyeko goodies, an ebay buy and a few bits from Topshop. I went on their website to look at the new Kate Moss stuff but it was so pricey I ended up getting something totally different...

Eyeko Offer

Just a quick note to say check out the Eyeko website, they are doing 3 nail varnishes for six pounds and free postage for this weekend only. The colours are gorgeous - sparkly black, midnight blue and a beautiful lilac, all new shades! I have just purchased my set and will post as soon as I receive it, hope the postal strike stops soon...

Leeds Loot

About time for a new post, I havent been feeling up to it recently as i have had flu. Also as i havent been well enough to leave the house i havent been able to buy anything new to write about! We went shopping in Leeds today and this is what i wore. River Island embellished t-shirt, have written about this before, the reason this photo is up is to show off my Topshop red lacey cardigan. It looks a bit of an orange shade in the photo but really it is bright red.
This is an Accessorize bracelet i have had for a few years, its very pretty and has a purple heart and a four leaved clover around the other side and lots of tiny pearls.

I thought the red cardigan looked good next to my pale grey Topshop skirt. It looks a bit shapeless in the photo but it is fitted over the hips and is just below knee length. It flares out when you spin round which is nice.

I love these boots and tights, i am considering buying some of the really trendy ones which are the same but have a peep toe. They have some in Topshop that are nearly a hundred quid but they look so cool! Both the boots and tights were from Primark last year. I never wore the boots with a skirt when i first got them, i thought short boots would look wrong with a skirt but i felt really good in this outfit today.

And this is what i actually bought, a very modest amount of things. I read on another blog that Lush have brought out Snow Fairy in a solid perfume this year and i had to buy it as i always buy the shower gel this time of year. i put some of the perfume on when we sat down to have lunch and i have been smelling it on my wrists all afternoon, its such a nice sweet smell. Of course i had to stock up on the shower gel as well. I bought two pairs of earrings from Accessorize, the photo does not do them justice but the pair on the left have a dark purplish stone in the centre and diamondy ones around the edge, i saw them on the website and went looking for them. And the ones on the right are black with tiny pink flowers, i already have these and used to wear them with all my black or pink outfits but then i lost one so i had to buy them again.
The background is my only clothes buy, i soft purpley grey shawl / long cardigan from River Island. It has holes for your arms but it kind of just drapes and i can see it being held together by a nice brooch. It looks much better on so i will do another post when i wear it. It has a few sparkly threads running through it which made me think of Xmas, I have noticed that all the shop seem to be full of sequins already. I saw some gorgeous tree decorations in Paperchase - tiny birds made of beads and brightly coloured baubels that looked as though they were covered with velvet. I can't wait to get my tree....

Ciate & Other Cosmetics

I've got myself some bargain bits on ebay in the last week. I have seen Ciate on ASOS.com and was tempted to buy some but put off by the nine pound price tag. It looks very pretty but its hard to justify that much just because there is a bow on the bottle! I bought the above polish for half the retail price, including postage, from an ebay seller. The colour is called Plastic Fantastic, not one of their latest colours but one I know I will wear. I used to have a hot pink Barry M nail varnish that I have just used up.

The Plastic Fantastic is less of a bright pink than I thought it would be - more of a deep magenta. I wasn't disappointed by it though, I would wear any berry shade and my other polishes are dark purple, red or black. The bottle is a large size, which I suppose justifies the price - although I'm still glad I didnt pay it all of course - the only thing is that the size of the brush didn't match up. I have been wearing exclusively Rimmel Lycra Pro polishes for the past few months because of the mistake - free application brush and the Ciate brush was disappointingly small. However I have been wearing the nail varnish for four days and it is only just starting to get the odd tiny chip so all in all i would definitely purchase again.

I also got a set of Body Shop eyeshadow cubes and an applicator brush, again for half the shop price. This set has a creamy shade, a charcoal grey, a silvery blue and a sparkly navy blue. All the cubes are in individual pots and there is a lot in each one. The brush bristles are vey soft and don't seem like they would fall out at all.

This is my attempt at a smoky eye - my favourite look. I used the grey as a base, the cream on the eye socket and the two blues as accents around the lashes. it looks quite sparkly on but not overpoweringly so. i think the colours might have been a bit stronger though, its nice and i will use it but its not quite as good as my benefit palette.

Finally, i also purchased Barry M lipgloss in bubble gum, as recommended by the Beauty Spark. It's good because it isnt too sticky like a lot of glosses, the shade it nice but subtle enough for everyday. The next item on my shopping list is an Urban Decay palette, I have seen the Ammo palette on several blogs and can't wait to try it out :)

Back to Black

I went to visit my parents yesterday and I picked up a few things in town on the way. I think you can never have too many black pieces so it was all money well spent. I got the pumps from Primark, I wore out my last pair of black flats and have been meaning to get these since I saw them on a couple of blogs. Also pictured are a stud detail jumper (back view shown as there are more studs), and another black knit with little puffed, padded shoulders. Both from Topshop, but I have to say I wasn't impressed with the service I got in there, I had to queue for a changing room whilst one of the shop assistants tried something on and another one blocked the entrance so I thought that was unprofessional. i love my spoils though, I am thinking of wearing them with straight black trousers or an a-line skirt and lacey tights.

This is the outfit i wore on saturday; purple longline cardigan and white t-shirt, both Topshop, River Island studded bangle, Primark embellished bib necklace that i bought a couple of weeks ago, also not pictured Topshop animal print stud earrings.

Primark high-waisted indigo jeans...

and one of my favourite pairs of boots, i got them from Office last year. They are just right with these jeans and i love the buckle detail.
On a non-fashion related note, I finished my first book by Sarah Waters this week and can't wait to read more. She writes historical crime fiction and there are so many twists in it i couldn't put it down, would recommend them to anyone.
I also joined the Love Film website after getting a voucher in my Grazia the other week, I got a 30 day free trial and a ten pound Topshop voucher. i am definitely going to keep it up as you get unlimited DVDs every month and i have to watch a couple of films every weekend so its perfect for me.

Bits & Bows

I bought the cute little necklace on the left from Topshop the other day, the two chains are attached at the clasp and the bow and the pearl are *oh so tiny*. They had a few little charm necklaces in, each with two tiny chains together, one with a heart and a leaf, and another with the word *love* in gold and i think another little heart. i love pearls and the bright green caught my eye so i went for this one.

A nice post by Em at Passion for Fashion got me thinking about bows so i decided to include the purple one on the right as well. I bought it from Accessorize about a month ago. i don't normally go for gold or plastic charms but you know how things just call to you... :)

Exciting Eyeko Goodies

I received my Eyeko order at the weekend, and was really pleased with my stuff. I got some glitter eyeliner, which you can just about see in the eye make up photo, i am also wearing Benefit Smokin Eyes palette, which includes 2 shades of grey powder, a light pink applied on the brow bone and brow definer. I love the eyeliner, it's visible but not over the top.
I also bought some glitter nail varnish which you can see in the third photo, applied as a top coat over Rimmel black pearl. The cocktail ring is from Accessorize. My third buy was some Minty Fat Balm, i think i got a slightly dodgy one as the stick had fallen out of the base and the edge of the balm was flaking off a bit. It didn't really matter though, I put it back together and it felt very minty and fresh on.
To finish it off I received a free tube of Rose lip gloss - didn't exactly taste of Rose I didn't think, but a nice lip gloss all the same. Plus there was a cute Eyeko postcard in there which I am using as a book mark until I decide who to send it to.
It certainly prettied up my weekend!

Perfumed Perfection

I picked up this t-shirt from River Island, it was a bit of an impulse buy but I am really glad I bought it. It's hard to tell from the picture but some of the perfume bottles have little bits of sparkle and diamante on. i love pretty things and try keep the fluffiness confined to make up and jewellery and wear plainish clothes to set them off but I had to have this!

Pretty Primarni Purchases

I popped into Primark the other day to see if they had anything nice in and ended up with a whole new outfit! The embellished bib necklace was featured in a fashion magazine and i had been keeping my eye out for it. I think I'm going to wear it with a plain black of white t-shirt.

They had loads of shirt dresses in and I chose this one because I thought the pale grey and pink colours were the prettiest, and would suit my dark hair and pale skin. i have some wet look leggings and black skinny jeans I can wear with it.

To finish off I got some black ruched suede look boots. I have an almost identical pair from last year and i wore them so much they needed replacing. The heel is just the right height for me and is quite chunky and easy to walk in without being clumpy. I had intended to wear them with smart skirts for work but they actually look really good next to my new shirt dress...
